Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; SUMMARY introduction and purpose in 1979 the bureau of reclamation reclamation published a final environmental statement INT FES 79 55 for the municipal and industrial mai m&i system of the bonneville unit central utah project and since that time construction has been under way on the water delivery system of the project some aqueducts in the system were officially dedicated for service on may 16 1986 while others are scheduled for completion by early 1987 the mai mal system will be located in salt lake utah summit and wasatch counties in north central utah as shown on the frontispiece map major features of the system include jordanelle Jor danelle dam and reservoir which will store 320000 acre feet of project water at a site on the provo river about 6 miles upstream from heber city and the jordan and alpine aqueduct systems which will convey project water to areas of use in salt lake county and northern utah county the project water supply in cludes bludes 70000 acre feet of mai m&i water for salt lake county approximately 11500 acre feet of mai m&i water for northern utah county 7500 acre feet of mai m&i water for the city of orem and approximately 2400 acre feet of mal mai water for wasatch county communities which would be provided directly from jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir the mai m&i water for wasatch county is a modi fication cation fictation fi of the FES plan and most likely would be accomplished by reduc deduc ing the amount of mai m&i water delivered to northern utah county from that presented in the FES in addition the mai m&i system will provide 3000 acre feet of supplemental irrigation water to the francis area in summit county and 12100 acre feet of supplemental irrigation water to the heber valley area in wasatch county construction of the system will include safety modifications to 15 high country reservoirs on the upper provo river and improved and stabilized water levels in 12 of these reservoirs operation of the project will enhance water quality and recreation values mitigate adverse impacts to wildlife and stream fisheries and provide flood control the purpose of this supplement is to report and evaluate two types of elements the environmental impacts of proposed modifications to the mai m&i system plan and impacts or consultations not previously covered by the 1979 FES proposed actions for which analyses or consultations have been conducted include 1 relocating US highway 189 along an alignment different from that described in the FES 2 adding a new wasatch county road 3 relocating the outlet works of jordanelle Jor danelle dam from the right to the left abutment S 1
