| Relation | Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; publicaffairs PUBLIC AFFAIRS REPORT FOR 1990 the district prepared a tabloid section on the bonneville unit of the central utah project in concurrence with the US bureau of reclamation and it was distributed to over 600000 individuals within the state A video on jordanelle Jor danelle dam construction was prepared by reclamation and the district emphasizing dam safety with the jordanelle Jor danelle site the board supported the newly formed organization colorado river resources coalition in its efforts to educate the public and government entities regarding a balanced use of the colorado river and myriad other situations that affect water development in the seven state area the district worked throughout the year with various environmental programs involving the utah fishing magazine organization and other associations involving fishery development in the state of utah the educational program of the district reached into other areas of the state by supplying teachers and students with educational information particularly as it relates to the central utah project the district worked closely with the state of utah and the states water education program and assisted in the governors conference on water education and the state water education plan numerous tours outlining the various features and aspects of the central utah project were conducted which included all areas within the units of the central utah project meetings and discussions were carried on with the county commissions state legislators and congressional representatives to keep them continually abreast of the many activities of the central utah project and the CUWCD the district participated with the uintah basin water conference and supplied various brochures and display materials for the conference the district was involved in the scoping meetings for the environmental impact statement for the operation of the colorado river where statements were presented on the districts position and the direction the district felt the committee should take at the colorado river water users association annual meeting in las vegas the district was fortunate to obtain as a keynote speaker for the conference senator E jake garn who enlightened the water users on the operation of his office in washington A permanent jordanelle Jor danelle dam display was put in place in cooperation with the US bureau of reclamation and utah department of transportation it offers visitors the opportunity to understand construction activities and future development at the dam site throughout the year the district has participated in seminars speaking engagements formal presentations and conferences where the message of the central utah project has been presented in an unobstructed manner with clarity and common sense understanding 10 |
