Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; the vital water resource facility in the sevier river drainage complex is the sevier bridge reservoir dam engineering studies have concluded that if the dam spilled that due to the age and deterioration of the present spillway itwould atwould it would damage the dam under the central utah project plan the district will be placing additional waters in the reservoir en enhancing hancin 9 the opportunity of a spill therefore the district has accepted the responsibility to repair the spillway the engineering services for this repair work was completed by bingham engineering through formal bid procedures clegg construction company of orem utah was the low bidder with a bid of 195064 this rehabilitation work is currently underway negotiations are underway with duchesne city and the east duchesne culinary water improvement district to formulate a petition for project water and the construction of a water purification plant to process water from the starvation reservoir to meet their municipal needs A treatment plant is needed to provide water to duchesne city where it has been determined that their present wells do not meet state and federal quality standards and to the area to be served by the improvement district where a culinary system is needed the district has budge budgeted tea teU 1060000 to be used in the construction of this treatment plant A water requirement and facility study is underway by rollins brown and gunnell engineering company for wasatch and summit C counties oun ties this study is to determine the future municipal water needs of wasatc wasatch h and sum summit mit counties it is to determine if a modification in the allocation of water in wasatch and summit counties is needed to meet these requirements the district has continued to support the cloud seeding activities of the utah division of water resources this research project by the state is to determine the opportunities that are available by this program to increase precipitation and available water supplies this research program has been going on for several years with encouraging results the district expresses its appreciation to john lambert leo harvey and grant pickup who have faithfully servedas servidas ser served vedas as members of the districts board of directors john lambert and leo harvey were appo appointed inted anted in 1964 to the original board of directors grant pickup was appointed in march 1971 in march 1977 the court appointed mr thomas baum to represent the utah county division and mr larue pickup to represent the uintah county division the district expresses its sympathy by the passing of john gillman soon after his appointment to the board the court appointed mrs eleanor S olsen to fill the unexpired term of mr gillman mrs olsen becomes the first woman to serve as a member of the board of directors of the central utah water conservancy district the directors of the district fulfilled their responsibilities to the citizens of the districts during the past year their successful efforts to obtain appropriations for continual continuel conti continued nuel construction on the bonneville unit and to change the position of the president on his understanding of the central utah project was most mos t vital to the state of utah had this not been achieved it it would have resulted in a serious reversal to many years of planning by the leaders of the state of utah in developing projects to meet the growing water requirements of the state the board members have and will continue to exert their efforts to assure the continued progress in in construction of the central utah project and progress in other district activities so that the water needs of the citizens of the district can be met for the board of directors CENTRAL UTAH WATER conservancy DISTRICT Q jeffia jvffia robert B hilbert president A w
