Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; to become a recreational paradise with fishing boating water skiing and numerous other activities for 70000 enthusiasts per year by the summer of 1992 the bureau of reclamation plans a major recreational site on the west shore of the Y shaped reservoir near the US 40 diamond interchange A secondary recreational reat ional facility is also planned at the east end of the south arm of the lake and a possible third site has been proposed on the east side of the north arm of the reservoir the bureau of reclamation is working with a budget of about 12 million for recreation facilities CUP irrigation and drainage system waits for funding and its turn at bat while the jordanelle Jor danelle dam project has commanded most of the headlines during 1989 the irrigation and drainage system iad lad i&d has been waiting for its turn at bat the environmental impact statement for the iad lad system should be completed by the end of 1989 and congress is expected to provide funding for 1990 the irrigation and drainage system which will provide supplemental water from the diamond fork system to sevier bridge reservoir received a boost by utah governor norm bangerter at a well attended press conference on october 18 r 1 governor bangerter noted that congress is considering a 17 1.7 17 billion ceiling increase in funding for the colorado river storage project utah expects to receive about 400 million from this appropriation pria tion for for the central utah project primarily to complete the vital irrigation and drainage system within the bonneville unit the state water plan emphasizes the need to develop the proposed irrigation and drainage plan noting that agricultural growth in the area affected is severely limited by shortages of a dependable water supply for irrigation about 221645 acres of supplemental service land now experiences average water shortages of about 10 percent another 25290 acres of full service land in the CUPS bonneville unit RX HWRTNE receives no water supply other than from infrequent precipitation the proposed irrigation and drainage system in conjunction with the bonneville unit would provide 116300 acre feet of water for supplemental and full service irrigation of 183120 acres the irrigation water will be provided to lands in southwestern utah county the mona nephi area in juab county and the sevier river area the irrigation and drainage system would also provide 3600 acre feet of municipal water forthe towns of springville Spring ville mapleton spanish fork payson santaquin San taquin mona and nephi
