Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; and initiation of work for soldier creek dam strawberry reservoir enlargement and collection works construction start on water hollow tunnel open channel no 2 and access road currant creek road rehabilitation relocation of strawberry river road and relocation of the west side road and US highway 40 in connection with the strawberry reservoir enlargement and collection works continued construction on starvation dam and access road and starvation feeder tunnel pipe and access road complete construction of knight diversion dam and access road and gates and controls for starvation dam specifications will be issued and contracts awarded for the clearing of the starvation reservoir area additions will be made to temporary camps to provide for personnel under an expanded construction program board reviews jordan proposals at its january meeting the board of directors reviewed proposed project developments in the jordan river basin A water filing has been made by the district for storage reservoirs on the jordan as a part of the authorized bonneville unit these reservoirs would permit the district to provide the following benefits regulation and control of return flow to the jordan river from the central utah and provo river projects in salt lake county this would increase the water supplies supplied available from these projects assist in stabilizing water levels of utah lake and supply existing jordan river water rights flood control recreational facilities in salt lake county in discussing these water resource developments the district requested that the planning development and construction of water supplies and flood control works on the jordan river in salt lake county be coordinated with and not in conflict with those being devel developed oped aped by the district through its central utah project dedication open house set for district HQ the CUWCD board has scheduled a dedication ceremony and an openhouse obenhouse open house for april 12 at its new headquarters building in orem the building is expected to be completed by early february when the district will move from its present offices in provo located at 355 west 1300 south in orem the facility has excellent accessability accessibility access ability to the interstate 15 interchange one mile to the west in addition orem city officials have opened 400 west street which permits convenient access to the building and the parking lot the march meeting of the board of directors is scheduled to be held in the new facility A REGIONAL WATER program to benefit all 11 western states must get under way now so that the growing economy of the west shall not suffer this was the message of a public service paper prepared on behalf of 3500 members of the los angeles section of the american society of civil engineers and released at its oct 10 conference dallas cole chief engineer for the colorado river board of california told reporters that the colorado river already is over committed in serving needs of the seven states depending upon it but there is surplus water cole added in the columbia river and in northern california BULLETIN As the news report was going to press the US interior department announced a cut of 24900000 in federal reclamation projects for the current fiscal year of that amount 4153000 is to be trimmed from the funds available for the bonneville unit
