Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; CUWCD 2001 200 1 ANNUAL REPORT P AG agea age& EA 1 ABOUT CUWCD may yay tat al wie pie yit x rtyxf the central utah water conservancy district is a political subdivision of the state of utah it was formally established in 1964 to act as the local entity to contract with the united states of america in connection with the construction operation and financing of the central utah project CUP the purpose of the central utah project is to enable the state of utah to beneficially use a substantial portion of its allotted share of the colorado river water under the colorado river compact the district is governed by a board of 18 trustees representing 10 central utah counties the board of trustees provides a check and balance between rural and urban representation the appointed citizen board governs the affairs of the district and THE MISSION OF THE DISTRICT our stewardship is to develop and manage water resources and deliver dependable high quality water in an environmentally and economically responsive manner we promote water conservation while emphasizing public awareness and public involvement and protection of our natural resources we have a culture wherein we respect one another and are anxious to support district goals we have challenging work in a safe working environment and have opportunities for individual growth we promote individual and team professionalism and a sense of pride in our work V establishes policy approximately 70 administrative engineering and maintenance personnel are employed at its headquarters as well as at offices and water treatment plants in orem wasatch county duchesne and vernal the district sponsors the CUP which includes five specific units each consists of a series of dams pipelines reservoirs tunnels and aqueducts designed to assist in meeting water needs of all 10 counties through approximately the year 2020 the district primarily a wholesaler of water to other cities and agencies has the responsibility to plan design construct operate and maintain project facilities administer the sale and delivery of project water and repay the federal government the reimbursable costs of the CUP CUR cue and we recognize performance we are innovative and proactive preactive pro active problem solvers in accomplishing our work we are aware of and sensitive to the political environment we strive to maintain the trust of the public in all our activities we responsibly balance financial needs and revenues we are committed to excellence and we are viewed as a model of public service and leadership we encourage understand and are responsive to the inquiries and expectations expressed by coworkers constituents and the public
