complex of the thcauthodzed authorized units of the central utah project encompassing construction of 10 new reservoirs more than 200 miles of aqueducts tunnels and canals dedicated to transporting utahs share of colorado river water to the states populace in a 12 county arca area e one of the main hubs in the bonneville unit is soldier creek dam drw deg which was completed in 1974 and has Jn creased increased the capacity of strawberry reservoir cser eser voir four times from 283000 to 4 11 06500 106500 acre feet of water storage 0 starvation reservoir completed in t 1970 970 on the strawberryriver strawberry riven river three miles above duchesne is also significant with a capacity of 167000 acre feet the reservoir supplies 21400 acre feet of water for irrigation on and 560 acre feet of municipal and industrial water 0 the duchesne river canal rehabilitation program presently under construction tionww will rehabilitate about 411rniles 411 41.1 miles of existing canals along alongthe the duchesne river to 1 conserve about 14000 acre feet of water presently lost to seepage 0 the strawberry collection system consists of a series of tunnels and pipelines about 37 miles long that collects flows from rock creek and eight other tributaries tributa ries to rock creek for delivery to the enlarged strawberry reservoir the sy system stein stern stcin including stillwater tunnel vat tunnel currant tunnel and water hollow tunnel has all been completed 0 currant creek dam completed in 1978 and the upper stillwater dam finished in 1987 serve as equalizing reservoirs along the land in southwestern utah county the mona nephi area injuab county and the sevier river arg arm arca area ibe the water delivered to the bonneville basin will be regulated by three reservoirs utah lake mona reservoir and sevier bridge reservoir THE VERNAL UNIT the vernal unit completed in 1962 provides supplemental irrigation water to about 15000 acres of land in ashley valley and 1600 acre naker service canal THE JENSEN UNIT The thejensen thejenscn Jensen unit completed in uintah county in 1980 provides municipal and industrial water for ashley valley and irrigation water for lands near nearjensen jensen utah e red fleet reservoir on big brush creek the units major feature was completed in 1980 and has a capacity of 26000 acre feet 9 municipal and industrial water is lifted f from map it drains or is fed by runoff and streams from an area of 250000 square miles in seven states an a area that comprises 8 percent of die the dle dic lower 48 states the basin drains into the 1400 mile colorado river for river management purposes the colorado river basin has been divided into the upper basin comprising portions of utah wyoming colorado and new mexico and the lower basin made up
