Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; p r i 41 f 6 reaffirms the colorado river compact and provides guidelines for the establishment of operating criteria for the colorado river the compact and the criteria for the operation and release of water from the upper basin storage reservoirs reservoirs is a protection to the upper basin states and assures their ability to develop projects to use their water entitlements from the colorado river 7 directs that the consumptive use of water in the upper basin available from the colorado river system under the colorado river compact shall not be reduced or prejudiced by any use of such water in the lower basin plans moving ahead for water deliveries to have available data for comprehensive planning the district engaged the consulting engineering firm of templeton linke and alsup to conduct a water requirement study of the municipal needs of salt lake utah and juab counties with the rapidly expanding population in southwest salt lake county the present water delivery facilities are becoming inadequate to meet peak water demands the salt lake county water conservancy district has made a formal request to initially contract with the district for 3000 acre feet of treated water to be delivered to salt lake county by 1972 increased deliveries will continue as the needs develop beyond 1972 1979 to supply treated water to salt lake county the construction of a new water treatment plant will be required the district has accepted this responsibility and has entered into a contract with the engineering firm of templeton linke and alsup to prepare the detailed design for a water treatment plant to insure a modern economical and efficient design representatives of the district and the engineering firm visited 12 water treatment plants in salt lake city denver and san francisco to obtain information to help in designing the new treatment plant construction of these water treatment facilities will be coordinated with the construction of the jordan aqueduct by the US bureau of reclamation the jordan aqueduct is a feature of the bonneville unit and construction of both will be required prior to the delivery of treated water to salt lake county it is planned to initiate storage stora 9 e of water in the starvation reservoir during 1970 these waters will then be made available to irrigatory irrigators in the duchesne river area s r 5 y ff f f f i 1 4 t ia i1 i
