Description | United States Department of Interior, Stewart L. Udall, Secretary, Bureau of Reclamation, Floyd E. Dominy, Commissioner, Region 3, A.B.West, Regional Director, "Special Studies, Delivery of Water to Mexico", February, 1963, page 43 b. Sandy. Zone. The upper or sandy zone is present over the extent of the Wellton-Mohawk Aquifer. The materials are predominantly fine- and medium-grained sand with a few local lenses of clay and silt and some gravel. The sand is fairly well sorted and is thus moderately permeable. The thickness of the sandy zone ranges from 21 to 79 feet and averages about 50 feet. The individual lenses of clay and silt range in thickness from about 1 foot to about 44 feet. They retard vertical percolation... Epson Perfection 4870 Photo, 400 dpi, 8 bit, 1,751,578 bytes |
