With the closure of Hoover Dam in 1935, the monthly quality variations downstream were reduced as drastically as the monthly flow variations. For the Colorado River near Grand Canyon during the years 1926 through 1931, the average monthly minimum concentration was about 280 ppm and the average monthly maximum was 1150 ppm. After closure of Hoover Dam, the comparable values near Grand Canyon were 345 ppm and 1240 ppm for the 15-year period, 1941 through 1955....
