Description COPPER, URANIUM, AND OIL The phenomenal growth in American manufacturing at the turn of the century when the new automobile industry was taking shape, greatly expanded the market for minerals such as copper and oil, both found in the Glen Canyon region. Copper prices shot up in 1905 during a speculative boom which burst early in 1907 and helped to bring on the panic of that year.
