Description None of the 1909 discovery party was familiar with any prior visitation by white men. Byron Cummings was curious about it; Cass Hite, who had opened the first mines in Glen Canyon and stayed there longer than anyone else, shortly afterward told him that he believed no whites had seen it before. None of the discovery party has said that he saw any prior names on the bridge or in the vicinity. The prior discoveries were not publicized and it was the 1909 discovery of Cummings, Douglass,...
