| Description | None of the 1909 discovery party was familiar with any prior visitation by white men. Byron Cummings was curious about it; Cass Hite, who had opened the first mines in Glen Canyon and stayed there longer than anyone else, shortly afterward told him that he believed no whites had seen it before.
