Description Photographs of whaling industry activities in Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon; William S. Lagen was the only child of Marc Lagen and Emily Schupp. Emily was a modern dancer who took the stage name Lada in 1914. The Schupp family fortune was made in the insurance business, and this was eventually complemented by success in the whaling industry.
