Description The collection consists of 146 color photographs of the eruption of Mount St. Helens in Washington State on May 18, 1980. Most photographs are from a helicopter or airplane near the summit of the mountain.; Biographical/Historical note; Mount St. Helens is part of the Cascade Mountain Range, located in Washington State. The mountain had a major eruption on May 18, 1980. 57 people were killed, and 200 homes, 47 bridges, 15 miles of railways and 185 miles of highways were destroyed. The...
