| Description | Biographical/Historical note: Emily Stevenson McDonald Carlisle was born September 6, 1886, to Francis McDonald and Rozella Stevenson in Big Cottonwood (now Holladay), Utah. She was the oldest of eleven children. In 1907, she graduated from University of Utah Normal School and received her Master's degree from the University of Utah in 1916. During the summers of 1918 and 1923, Emily interned at Columbia University. Her education continued throughout all her life as she took summer sessions... Collection contains a variety of materials collected by Emily Carlisle dating from 1830 to 1976. These materials, consisting of family histories and genealogy, various organizations, educational, political and financial papers, and photographs, detail Emily Carlisle's association with many different organizations and occupations.
