Note This report is an update of shellfish investigations from April 1965-March 1966. It has bay clam surveys results, with more detail on the Tillamook and Yaquina Bays, but includes others such as Nehalem, Siuslaw, Umpqua, and Nestucca. This report discusses the start of life history studies for the cockle clam, the clam for which the least information was known. It also discusses the commencement of cooperative cruises with California to study crabs, including mating behavior, shell conditions, and larvae rearing. There is a brief summary of abalone work, and the report concludes with habitat improvement and the implementation of oyster seed inspections in Oregon.
