Abstract Signal-to-Noise Ratio: Stories is a short story collection consisting of five explorations of audio technology and the related failures of interpersonal communication in the contemporary United States. These stories attempt to highlight an important phenomenon in American culture: despite the continued proliferation of methods of communication in modern society, the desire to be heard and acknowledged is still very much a psychological concern. Using the varied lives and professions of Americans, this collection shows the widespread and profound effect that the lack of successful communication still has on everyday men and women.
