Abstract | Dr. Eckard V. Toy, Jr., grew up in the Pacific Northwest and earned his Ph.D. in American history at the University of Oregon. Beginning with his 1959 Master’s thesis, “The Ku Klux Klan in Oregon: Its Charter and Program,” the Klan and related topics were a primary focus of his research and writing. After teaching at several universities in the Midwest and on the Pacific Coast, he retired to the Hood River Valley. He is remembered here by friends and colleagues. |
