Abstract The author and compiler of Design Data for Field Engineers has
included in his volume short cuts in design, and miscellaneous data
and information used on general civil engineering projects from inception
to completion.
The book is intended for the engineer who may be stationed in
isolated areas and who does not wish to be hampered with unnecessary
weight but still wishes to have at his command the necessary reference
data. Outlines and check lists are provided so that pertinent
data in the investigation of a specified project prior to its design
may not be overlooked. It outlines briefly requirements of a report
in accordance with the project's need and purpose.
It presents typical simple contract forms which have been found
to be generally adequate. It gives typical design analyses for the
project reviewer and for information of clientele. Tables are provided
in a manner close to the appropriate subject so that time for
reference search is reduced. Short cuts, charts and tables are provided
to assist in selection of the type of project to design.
Volume I of Design Data for Field Engineers covers, but is not
limited to, project investigation, reporting, contracting, and design
and construction in the fields of water supply and drainage.
