Abstract | Academic libraries play an increasingly important role in providing research data services to faculty and students at universities around the world. One of the major challenges for libraries involves the appropriate scoping of services to meet a broad range of researcher needs. Oregon State University Libraries have developed a model for integrated research data services that features four overlapping spheres of activity: access and preservation infrastructure; planning and consultation services; data management training, and participation in open data consortia. This model enables researchers to quickly understand the scope of services we offer, and choose among these services according to their specific needs and interests. The poster will visually illustrate the model to demonstrate how it can be adopted by libraries of various sizes and resources to offer research data services to scholars across disciplines at their institutions. For each sphere of the model, we will provide examples of services or support that are being offered at OSU, and discuss the resources required (e.g. personnel, infrastructure, or skills) to offer them. |
