Abstract | In recent years the types of engineering data accumulated by many telemetry systems have become so diversified and complex, and the environment in which these systems operate has become so restricting that telemetry systems with increased capabilities and decreased size are becoming a necessity. Advances in integrated circuitry techniques satisfy the size requirements and a great deal of work has been done to increase the capabilities of telemetry systems. This paper describes two different designs, either of which can further increase the capabilities of a telemetry system. Both designs represent multiple format telemetry generators; they differ most significantly from one another by the fact that one design uses a binary counter as its basic element, and the other uses a binary shift register. Each design makes it possible for a telemetry system, during the mission, to alter the rate at which various engineering measurements are taken, add new measurements or delete measurements. |
