Abstract This study was undertaken in an attempt gain a more thorough understanding of stream/aquifer interactions on camp Creek in Central Oregon. Sections of the creek were excluded from livestock grazing between 1966 and the present. Objectives of the study were to measure the extent of the shallow aquifer in the Camp Creek valley including both the water table and aquiclude (subsurface formation which restricts the transmission of water) shape and depth. This was accomplished by producing topographic maps of the valley surface, water table, and aquiclude surface within the study area. Resistivity sounding, was employed to measure depths to the water table and aquiclude, while kriging provided the means of interpolating values between measured points with a minimum and known variance. Groundwater flow in the above the downstream end of the exclosure and in the upper portion. of the study area appeared to be regional, unaffected by local influences. Below the downstream end of the exclosure the groundwater flow became localized, bending toward the creek.
