| Description | The Vernal Unit of the Central Utah Project was the first unit to be constructed in the initial phase of the CUP which was authorized in 1956. The irrigation works built on the Vernal Unit will store and distribute the excess spring flood flows of Ashley Creek. The Vernal Unit plan called for an off-stream reservoir, Steinaker Reservoir, located in the Steinaker Draw four miles north of Vernal, Utah. |
