Note The objective of this project was, "To establish, in Oregon, a coastwide red abalone sport fishery and a limited commercial fishery as stocks dictate." Starting in 1967, abalone were planted at Whale Cove in Lincoln County, and were later planted at the Rogue River Reef in the Gold Beach area and at Harris Beach near Brookings. This document summarized accomplishments and proposed further research into inducing spawning and transferring larval abalones.
