Description "A page of pictures taken during the sand storm that visited Boulder City on January 11th, 1933, when the wind is estimated to have attained a velocity in excess of sixty miles an hour. # 475 workman collection, debris after the porch roof was blown from the office dormitory. Dormitory #5 in the background. # 477 The office dormitory during the height of the storm. The missing part of the porch was blown completely over the building, falling between a group of parked cars, with no damage... In 1931, Utah joined Six Companies Inc. to raise the surety required to bid for the Boulder (Hoover) Dam contract. One of the world’s largest dams, Hoover Dam was completed in 1936 at a cost of $49 million. These scrapbooks document through photographs the construction of the dam showcasing UCC's part in its creation. black and white photographs 4 x 5.3 in. or 8 x 4.8 in. paper background 10 x 13.5 in.
