The crew were Booth and Madison." Information provided by Special Collections: "Early Las Vegas History by Florence Lee Jones, April 1970: Because Las Vegas was in an artesian belt, many small ranches were developed in the area as the result of drilling and bringing in flowing wells which required no pumping. This was in the era from 1905, when the town was established, until after World War II. Then the water table dropped drastically because of increasing demands for water for the growing population.
