Description | 2814 REPORT OF THE CHIEF OF ENGINEERS, U. S. ARMY. heavy storm, about forty-fire piles washed away from under the same tracks. Some of these piles had been dug in; while others were jetted down. In order to make a good job of the repairs, three of the parallel tracks leading to the wharf were torn up for a distance of over 300 feet and about 70 new piles put in.
