Format Scanned from originals using Silverfast AI 6.0 on UMAX Powerlook III flatbed scanner. Scanned images saved as 16 bit grayscale and 48>24 RGB color tiffs. Omnipage 14 used to OCR 8 bit tiffs and generate text files for full text access. 16 bit grayscale and 48>24 RGB color tiffs edited in Photoshop CS 8.0: cropped, rotated, reduced in size, levels adjusted, bit depth reduced to 8 and JPEGs created.
Description the charges as was employed last season. When working in swift water the derrick-fall attached to the torpedo was not taken to the scow, as was done last season, but the following method was adopted instead : As soon as the torpedo was lodged in position the fall-line was overhauled, and two sticks of cord-wood made fast to it, to serve as buoys; then the guy-lines from the tow-boat were cast loose from the scow, and as the tow-boat backed down the fall-line was cast overboard.
