Description | PP13. GAUGING WATERS OF THE COLUMBIA RIVER FROM ASTORIA TO THE BAR. The act of August 2, 1882, is the first appropriation for this work. A self-registering gauge was set up at Astoria in February, and has been operated since, and record of report of pilots made, to test value of gauge record, as an indicator of bar condition, by a comparison of a large number of observations.
