Format Scanned from originals using Silverfast AI 6.0 on UMAX Powerlook III flatbed scanner. Scanned images saved as 16 bit grayscale tiffs. 340.279 kb 8 bit - Gray Gamma 2.2 - greyscale Omnipage 14 used to OCR 8 bit tiffs and generate text files for full text access. 16 bit grayscale and 48>24 RGB color tiffs edited in Photoshop CS 8.0: cropped, rotated, reduced in size, levels adjusted, grayscale bit depth reduced to 8 and JPEGs created.
Description S3,000, and has been in successful and useful operation since April. Two small boats belonging to the contractors have gone over the falls since the work commenced, and one life has been lost. Other casualties would have happened, involving loss of life and property, but for the timely assistance rendered by the steam-launch. On the 4th of January Mr. A. H. Ball, senior member of the firm of Ball & Platt, died on the work, in consequence of exposure, while super-intending his working force...
