Description Economic Feasibility. On the basis of the site cost data shown on Table 2 it appears that pumped-storage projects can be constructed having an annual cost of about $12.50 per kilowatt-year based on Federal financing at 6-1/8 percent. Pumping energy is assumed to come from either base load coal-fired or nuclear plants; or energy surplus to the system.5 Indications are that future pumping energy could be obtained for a cost of about 4.5 mills per kwh; this cost is based on a thermal energy mix...
