Description | From the pilot of the Columbia, river below the mouth of the Willamette, I learn that at the lowest stage of water and tide there is 1.7 feet, and at high tide 19 feet. Hence it would be desirable to deepen the channel to at least 18 feet of water, as was originally intended.
