SURVEY OF SAINT HELEN'S BAR, COLUMBIA RIVER, 0REGON The ocean-steamers having experienced considerable trouble at this point on several occasions, a survey of the locality was recommended by me and approved of by the Chief of Engineers. The survey was commenced in February, 1872, and continued at such intervals as my assistant could be spared from his other duties.
