Format Scanned from originals using Silverfast AI 6.0 on UMAX Powerlook III flatbed scanner. Scanned images saved as 16 bit grayscale tiffs. 106,657 bytes 8 bit - Gray Gamma 2.2 - grayscale Omnipage 14 used to OCR 8 bit grayscale tiffs and generate text files for full text access. 16 bit grayscale tiffs edited in Photoshop 6.0: cropped, rotated, reduced in size, levels adjusted from 0 - 1.00 - 255 to 0 - 1.00 - 249, bit depth reduced to 8 and JPEGs created.
Description eration. It is to be 90 feet high, and will impound sufficient water to develop 350,000 horse-power and irrigate 200,000 acres of land. This last project seems to have advanced to almost the point of construction; and if constructed as planned, will obliterate Priest Rapids and so change the character of the River as to render impossible a duplication of my feat of navigation, and I will probably be the last, as well as the first, to make a complete, continuous descent of the Columbia River....
