Description | A short distance below Bridgeport I passed the little square-nosed steamboat Bridgeport plowing her way upstream against the current. She is the only steamboat on the Columbia River between the Arrow Lakes and The Dalles City. Captain Fred McDermott is her master; and as there are no railroads along this section of the River he is able to do a fair transportation business between Bridgeport and Pateros.
