| Description | A train of the Oregon-Washington Railroad and Navigation Company steams through the midground of this black and white image, taken from the south side of the Columbia River. There is one locomotive and about 10 cars on the train. In the foreground is a pond, mostly encircled by trees except to the left, where ruts of a dirt road can be seen. The train travels on an embankment. Behind it can be seen the river, with low, sparsely-treed hills rising beyond. There are puffy clouds in the sky. |
