Description A black and white view of Trevitt Monument on Memaloose Island in the Columbia River east of Hood River. The monument, an obelisk of light-colored granite on a square base of darker stonework, marks the grave of a local pioneer named Victor Trevitt. A state senator 1866-74, he was buried in 1883 in the Indian burial ground at his request. The monument stands at the edge of the island, and two men stand on either side of it.
